For managed node groups, I add new managed node groups with AL2023 and then removed the old AL2 nodes. Pods were drained and scheduled onto new nodes with no issues.

For Karpenter, I updated existing nodepools and nodes were gradually replaced respecting disruption budgets. Only issue I had when I did it was Nvidia nodes didn't exist and AL2023 nodes didn't support nvidia cuda. This issue is now solved.
